Yuri Matsumaru is a choreographer and dancer of flamenco and butoh.

In her childhood she lived in Romania, Russia, England and Japan.

In Japan she studied flamenco with Nana Ikariyama and Ami, and butoh with Hironobu Oikawa and Daisuke Yoshimoto.

From 1998 she lived in Spain for 6 years and studied with many artists such as Ciro, Eva Yerbabuena, Rafaela Carrasco, Belen Maya etc.

In 2003 she won the Fomentador prize of the Japanese Flamenco Association.

After that, she presented solo works such as 『透明な怒り』Transparent anger(‘08) , 『混沌の朝』The dawn of chaos (‘10), 『闇の卵』Egg of darkness (‘13) and 『流転』Ruten (‘18) in Japan.

She is currently using her own choreographic language based on Butoh.
